     “And whoever turns away from My remembrance–indeed, he will have a depressed [i.e., difficult] life, and We will gather [i.e., raise] him on the Day of Resurrection blind. He will say, ‘My Lord! Why have you raised me blind while I was [once] seeing?’ He will say, ‘Thus did Our signs come to you, and you forgot [i.e., disregarded] them–and thus will you, this Day, be forgotten." [Taa Haa 20:124-126]

“The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’aan, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Sawm (fasts) that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number [of days which one did not observe Sawm (fasts) must be made up] from other days. Allaah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you” [al-Baqarah 2:185]

Official Decision and Announcement of the High Judiciary Council of Saudi Arabia…

Just a short time ago, the official decision and announcement of the High Judiciary Council of Saudi Arabia that since the moon of Ramadhaan was sighted this evening, here in Saudi Arabia. Subsequently, we shall be starting our taraaweeh prayers tonight (Thursday 19 July 2012) after the ‘Ishaa. prayer, in preparation for the first fast of Ramadhaan tomorrow – Friday 20 July 2012, inshaa.-Allaah.

As Ramadaan dawns upon us (pun intended), this blessed month is a great opportunity for goodness, barakah (blessing), worship and obedience towards Allaah.
This month is superior to others in a number of things:

• In it there is the best night of the year, which is Laylat al-Qadr. Allaah says : “Verily, We have sent it (this Qur’aan) down in the Night of Al‑Qadr (Decree). And what will make you know what the Night of Al‑Qadr (Decree) is? The Night of Al‑Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months [al-Qadar 97:1-3] So worship on this night is better than worshipping for a thousand months.
• In this month was revealed the best of Books to the best of the Prophets (peace be upon them). Allaah says:  “The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’aan, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong)”[al-Baqarah 2:185]
• In this month the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are shut, and the devils are chained up. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (rh) that the Messenger of Allaah (salAllaahu alayhi wa salam) said: “When Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are put in chains.” (Agreed upon).
• There are many kinds of worship in Ramadaan, some of which are not done at other times, such as fasting, praying qiyaam, feeding the poor, i’tikaaf, sadaqah, and reading Qur’aan.
